Secure Archival is Hard... Really Hard

Archival systems must protect sensitive data for decades - far beyond the time horizons for which the security of today’s cryptographic primitives can be confidently guaranteed in the face of future advances in cryptanalysis and computing. In my talk, I will present the core challenges identified by the authors, explain how these challenges define the open problem of building truly secure long-term storage, and discuss one of the cited approaches - the LINCOS system.
